On a beautiful calm morning with not a sole in sight the jetty at Magazine Bay provided the perfect foreground to highlight an unbelievable sunrise. With Waiheke Island on the horizon together with Ponui Island the morning colours began to show an hour before sunrise (5.56pm) while Venus remained the only bright planet dominating the night sky that remained. However it wasn\'t only Venus providing the Astro backdrop to this image because if you look closely a Waning Crescent moon (3.9%) can be seen rising just to the left of Ponui Island. On this morning the Moonrise occurred at 5.04am and this image was taken at 5.18am.
