This is a time lapse shot from Red Rocks, Wellington on the beachrocks that jut out into Cook Strait immediately south of the Te Kopahou Visitor Centre. The time lapse begins around 8pm local time August 3rd, and ends around 5:30am August 4th (when the batteries died, haha). Besides the Milky Way, visible in the time lapse are the InterIslander and BlueBridge Ferries, some fishing boats, a Coastguard boat, as well as some cars making their way along the coastal dirt track. The ebb and flow of the tide is also noticeable. The Large and Small Magellanic Clouds watch as the Galactic Center descends into frame, dominated by the Southern Cross and Alpha and Beta Centauri.
Finished since 15 days, 4 hours and 45 minutes.
