The appearance of S.T.E.V.E in conjunction with a SAR arc in the skies of Pisa Moorings, Central Otago on the night of 11 May 2024. Against almost every instinct for shooting the auroral australis from a mid latitude location, this image required turning and facing north. The large mechanical fan, normally used for preventing frost damage to the juvenile grape vines in spring, seems to have found a secondary function blowing the aurora all the way into the northern sky
