24.08.2024, A solar storm has created a stunning aurora across Blenheim overnight Monday 12.08.2024 and Tuesday 13.08.2024, the time-lapse captured the holy grail of timelapses from 5pm Monday 12th to 5am Tuesday 13th. It captures the first break-up with the outburst of pink ray bundles, which settled down with the first emergence of the front SAR Arc. Then came the mid-evening break-up, followed by the most powerful break-up just after midnight. This led directly to the expansion of the aurora towards the equator, which in turn pushed the main SAR Arc out of the field of view, along with the second, weaker SAR Arc behind it. Shutter speed was set at 1/640 at the start of the time-lapse and ended at at 20second exposures. (1718 images). This was my very first attempt of a holy grail time-lapse and to be honest I was not expecting to capture the Aurora....
Finished since 14 days, 19 hours and 36 minutes.
