This Limestone Monolith sits at the highest point above Kura Tawhiti Castle Hill, with a commanding view across the Castle Hill Basin. For a couple of years I've wanted to create an image with this monolith as the main subject. Waiting for a clear night, I chose to capture it standing beneath the milky way arch, backlit by September's zodiacal light. Strong green airglow and faint Aurora activity also painted the sky in an assortment of colour, just above the horizon
