Captured at 4 AM on Murrays Bay beach, Auckland, New Zealand, this image marks my first sighting of comet C/2023 A3 in September 2024. After eight years of waiting to witness a comet with my own eyes, inspired by the movie Your Name in 2016, this moment was not only an astronomical event but also a personal journey. The photograph was taken during the early hours at dawn by the ocean. To avoid star trails, the background was enhanced while keeping the comet in its correct position, preserving the clarity of the stars. The soft hues of the early morning sky contrast beautifully with the bright tail of the comet as it slices through the peaceful dawn. This photo represents patience, practice, and the awe of finally experiencing a long anticipated celestial visitor. Fortunately, my photo is featured on Stuff, Brisbane Times and The Sydney Morning Herald.
