NGC 4038 and NGC 4039 known as the Antennae Galaxies are in a middle of a gigantic collision. They will eventually merge into one galaxy. They are at a distance of 45 million lightyears, so they require quite a bit of magnification to tease out any details. It may have happened 45 million years ago, but it's pretty neat to be alive to see this fantastic spectacle.
