I look at all these stunning images of the Sadr Region from the North and wish to shoot them but then I realize, there are just as many stunning regions in the south. The carina region, the galactic core, and then comes this beautiful and stunning region of Ara. I only came to know about this region a few years ago and was surprised to see the lack of images of this region back then, but now they are all over the place and every one of them is stunning. This is one of my favorite regions of the night sky. This image shows NGC 6188 aka The Rim Nebula or The fighting dragons of Ara in a narrow band and the colours are mapped using the Hubble palette. At the top is the nebula itself, at a distance of 4,000 light-years away, sculpted by very young stars. At the bottom is NGC 6164, a bipolar emission nebula of about 4 light-years across that lies some 4,200 light-years away in the southern constellation of Norma.
