The access to this particular reef involves getting lucky with the tides, wind, and terrestrial weather (as well as lining up with a night where the moon won't wash the details of the Milky Way out). It's one spot that I'd wanted to get to for ages, with the starfish on the rocks providing some interesting foreground elements for viewing. I ended up making my way up and having a few nights clear to get out and about the West Coast, with the opportunity to shoot it coming up (although it was a little uncertain whether I'd be able to). I jumped across to the reef, escaping with just some wet shoes. The following hour was a tense affair, as I struggled a little to shoot both the foreground and sky panorama on the reef. I ended up compromising and getting the bottom row of the sky pano on the reef, then hopping off to get the remainder of the sky shots further away. In saying all of that, very glad to have ticked this one off, whilst staying relatively dry and safe over the whole night.
