I had imagined this image for a few years and finally last year I got to finally hike to the location to capture what would be one of my favourite star trail images to date. I do a lot of research and scouting and this place had never been captured before like this or many other forms of nightscape imagery actually, so I was stoked to bring my vision to life from this location. Star trails are one of the harder and more tediously drawn out disciplines of night sky photography as they require many hours of images, in this case 3.5, from a rock solid tripod in order to be successful and even then you hope your camera doesn't cool down and lens fog over with the drop in temperatures that occur and always in alpine environments. The alpine environment is my favourite place to capture the night sky, mainly for its solitude and solace but also for its' unmatched raw and pristine beauty that is void of any signs of human interference. This mission confirmed this is where I wanted to be more and more and to remain focused to that vision.
