Taken on the southern coast of Dunedin city, including Saddle Hill and the suburb of Waldronville. The Aurora of 11 May 2024 displayed so many different moods, but this tye-dyed effect was unique and something we had never seen before. It was even visible with the naked eye. Any prior aurora we have viewed from this point were due south, looking straight out to sea. But this was SSW, and offered totally different composition opportunities of the southern coast.
