While driving through to the Maniototo for the night, I spotted the numbers looking good for an aurora. I spent the rest of the trip thinking of south-facing landscapes to shoot and was very happy with my decision to capture this wonderful historic station with the unexpectedly vivid display of the Southern Lights.
