Lake Hawea, 3am 2nd January 2025. A completely unexpected mid-summer Aurora, I didn't even think this brilliant display was possible. I may have squashed a fence trying to reach this spot, half asleep and confused as I was for being woken in the middle of the night. It was worth it! I know it looks fake - a rainbow, really? But this is how it was on the night. One of the best displays I've ever seen, and a crazy magical way to start the year.
