The annual lupine bloom in early summer is an amazing sight, and although I’ve captured them at night before, this year I wanted to photograph an entire field of lupines under the bright summer stars. This image is probably one of the most colourful I’ve ever taken, with the pink and purple lupine field, the strong bands of green and yellow airglow, and the red clouds of hydrogen around the Milky Way. The main difficultly was capturing the lupins under totally calm conditions, on the night it took several hours for the wind to die down and make this shot possible.
Finished since 178 days, 12 hours and 49 minutes.
