Milky Way over part of Southern Alps with Mt Sunday (i.e Edoras in Lord of the Rings) in the foreground. On the left the Small Magellanic Cloud and the Large Magellanic Cloud can be observed. In the center a dark finger connects our Galactic Kiwi with Rho Ophiuchi. The Carina Nebula can easily be seen just above the southern horizon.
