While airglow is present in the sky every night to a varying degree, these were by far the most well defined bands of red airglow I had ever seen. The idea for this image was to focus on capturing the entire winter Milky Way, but quickly I realised the stripes of red in the sky would take centre stage. This full sky panorama was taken in the heart of a dark sky reserve, allowing all of these faint and colourful features to be seen with ease.
