With its tremendous dynamic range a single frame of a solar eclipse is always a compromise. Here the extensive corona is highlighted, albeit softened by high cirrus clouds. The chromosphere is well overexposed but some of the hydrogen alpha glow of large prominences is diffracted by ice crystals onto the shadow of the moon, marking their locations almost like a reflection. Solar South Pole is at about 7.30 position.
