The eight day old Moon is a wonder to behold, the terminator dominated by many grand features. Binoculars show the magnificent mountain arc along the eastern border of Mare Imbrium, taking in Montes Alpes in the north, through Montes Caucasus along to Montes Apenninus in the south-east. With the naked eye you may be able to discern this curve as a wide dent in the terminator, including the southern heights of the Apennines where they peer into the darkness past the morning terminator.
