Taken: Friday 11th October 2024 at 11:16pm Story: This is by far the biggest aurora I've ever seen - the rays in this photo are similar to what we could see with our naked eyes. We could also see colour with our eyes but it wasn't as strong as the camera picked it up. It was hard to wait all day not knowing if the G4 geomagnetic storm was going to last, but in the end it was strong enough to produce this display. We were beginning to think it may have all been over as the activity had gone relatively quiet for an hour or two prior to this after a brief strong display around 9pm. It was great to share the excitement of the event with a number of other astrophotographers too.
Finished since 178 days, 15 hours and 3 minutes.
