With an impressive space weather forecast and a less than impressive eartside forecast I cast all doubts aside and headed to one of New Zealands' southern most points, the now aurora famous Waipapa Lighthouse. With a direct view too the south and a composition that works perfectly for an aurora, this had been on my bucket list for a while. The night began with fierce winds and an incoming rainstorm! Sheltering under a blanket until that passed over, I was rewarded for my patience with a light show that only I would capture as I was alone. What transpired that night would be one of the most impressive displays that would occur to begin the run up to solar maximum.
Finished since 227 days, 5 hours and 12 minutes.
