IC 2948 the Lambda Centauri Nebula otherwise known as the Running Chicken Nebula. This is a close up view of the area around the chicken head. The nebula is about 6500 light years away from us. In the image you can see the Bok globules and the stars making up the IC 2944 star cluster. This is a narrow band image taken through SHO filters and processed using the SHO palette. I also took some RGB images for the stars. This is one of my favourite nebulas and I have taken wider shots of it in the past. This is the first time zeroing in on the most interesting part of the nebula using my Celestron C6 and Starizona F/8 reducer.
Finished since 178 days, 12 hours and 47 minutes.
